Vancouver, B.C. – Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSX-V: SSC) announced today it has secured an order for its energy saving technology that will be implemented in 50 convenience stores for the 7-Eleven Corporation in the Philippine capital of Manila.

7-Eleven is the largest convenience store chain in the Philippines, and it is also set to be the coolest

The business breakthrough was the result of a four-month trial program which produced energy savings of approximately 12% with a payback of less than 24 months. The assessment phase of the project required Smartcool to work in conjunction with 7-Eleven's engineering team. Data from the Smartcool's ECO3™ technology in two locations was analyzed over a four-month period.

The project was initiated by the Company's Philippine distributor, Smartcool Phil Systems Inc., working in conjunction with Philippine Seven Corporation (PEC), which operates the 7-Eleven convenience store network in that country.

"Yet again, the ECO3™ has provided significant energy savings and a rapid payback of capital invested", states David Verlee, President of Smartcool Phil Systems Inc. "The ease and non-invasive installation process allows for 'business as usual' for the client which is exceptionally important for those that rely on air conditioning and refrigeration as part of the business model."

The ECO3™ is specifically developed as an easily-installed secondary controller for air conditioning and refrigeration systems. It provides extensive cost savings and environmental benefits by optimizing the energy efficiency of air conditioning and refrigeration systems with one or two compressors. These cooling units are found in millions of buildings worldwide, including most ordinary homes.

"We are very pleased with the relationship we have developed with the Smartcool Phil Systems team," added Victor Paterno, President of 7-Eleven Philippines. "The ECO3™ system not only helps us significantly cut energy costs, it also enables us to provide for a better, 'greener', environment for our workers and customers."
